Introducing OpenArt Director

Today we're excited to launch Director, a creative partner that turns conversation into finished film. It introduces a new way of creating video that we call vibe directing: you describe your creative vision, and Director builds a complete five-minute film with consistent characters, scenes, lighting and audio. The barriers that have always stood between people and filmmaking, the expensive equipment, the years of training, the editing software, are gone. Vibe directing unlocks a new way for people to tell stories.

Humans have always told stories. Around fires, through paintings, in song. Stories are how we make sense of the world, share what we know, and pass on what matters. And every great leap in storytelling, from the printing press to the camera to the screen, has opened the door a little wider to who gets to tell them.

Video has always been the hardest door to open. But to make something that felt finished, whether a film, an ad or a music video, you needed equipment, crews, budgets and years of training. Most people with stories worth telling never got the chance to tell them on screen.

The first wave of AI tools widened the door, but they didn't change what it felt like to walk through it. You'd write a prompt, wait, and get back a few seconds of footage. Then came hours of stitching clips together, fighting for consistency, and regenerating until something usable came out. Access opened, but direction, the real work of shaping a story into a finished piece, was still out of reach.

Today, Director changes that.

A new era of vibe directing

The best stories have always been shaped through conversation. A director talks through a scene with their actors, a writer bounces ideas off a team in a writers room, and slowly the idea becomes something real.

That's how Director works. You describe the feeling, the story, the pacing and the references, and Director brings them to life. Then you keep talking, scene by scene, until the piece feels right. Director handles the technical side, from camera angles to lighting to music, so you can stay focused on the one thing that matters: your story.

What you get is a film up to five minutes long, with the visuals, voices, music and sound created together as one piece. Your characters look the same in the first scene as they do in the last. And when something feels off, you don't start over. You iterate together, the way a director would on set.

There's no equipment, no crew and no editing software between you and the screen. If you can describe what you want to see, you can direct it. And you can start today.

From conversation to film

Describe your creative vision, from the characters and scenes to the dialogue, lighting and camera angles, and Director creates the entire video with precision and detail.

When you want hands-on control, just keep the conversation going: adjust individual scenes and refine every frame until it's exactly right.

Full stories, not short clips

Most AI video tools are limited to five to fifteen seconds creations, and that limit doesn't just restrict length. It restricts what kind of story you can tell.

Director creates pieces up to five minutes long in a single continuous work. That's enough room for a real beginning, middle and end. A music video can follow the emotional arc of a track, a short film can develop a character, an ad can build to a reveal, and a lesson can unfold with proper pacing. The story you imagine becomes the story you can actually make.

Develop, produce and refine

Director is there before the first frame is ever generated. Bring a half-formed idea, even a single sentence, and it helps you build the structure, develop the characters and find the visual style.

Then it produces the finished work, with visuals, voice, music and sound created together rather than edited in afterwards. Keep directing and iterating until you're happy with the final output.

Visual consistency

The hardest part of longer videos is making the whole piece come together, with consistency through characters, lighting, colour grading and audio. Characters need to stay recognisable, products need to stay accurate, and the style needs to carry through from the first shot to the last.

Director is designed to hold every element of your video, from characters and objects to voices and brand assets, consistent from start to finish.

Multi-language

Use your own voice, your team's voice, or any voice you have the rights to. Create in nine languages (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese) with lip-sync so accurate the story feels made for each audience rather than translated for them.

Thousands of visual styles

Every storyteller has a visual language, and Director speaks yours. Live-action realism, cinematic drama, anime, documentary, stop-motion or stylised animation, it works across the full range. Ask for the warmth of a Pixar short, the symmetry of a Wes Anderson scene, the wonder of a Studio Ghibli film or the rawness of an A24 indie, and Director holds that look across every frame.

Brand consistency

For teams, a brand is a story told across everything you make. Load your guidelines once, including colours, type, tone and visual identity, and every video reflects them. Over time, Director builds a working memory of your creative decisions, so one brand book can power a whole season of work across formats, audiences and languages.

Built for anyone with a story to tell

The tool is the same for everyone. What changes is the story each person brings to it.

  • Filmmakers can finally clear the folder of unmade ideas.
  • Ad teams can turn one brief into a full set of variants in days instead of weeks.
  • Marketers and agencies can produce brand-consistent video at scale without outside vendors.
  • E-commerce sellers can turn a single product photo into a campaign.
  • Independent creators can make a music video, a podcast episode or a social series with production quality and no production cost.
  • Educators can turn lessons into visual experiences that hold attention the way the best documentaries do.
  • Social media creators can make the formats they already work in feel cinematic.
  • And anyone can turn a special moment into a cinematic short, whether it's a wedding anniversary or a tribute film celebrating a grandparent's life.

There's a director in all of us

A few years ago, the way software gets built changed. People stopped writing code line by line and started describing what they wanted. Vibe coding opened building to everyone, and then the professionals adopted it too.

Director brings that same shift to the oldest technology we have: the story. The pros get faster, the people who never had access get to direct, and the stories that were too expensive or too hard to make finally get made.

Turn the film playing in your head into one the world can watch with Director. Start creating today!
